What’s up Students!
On Wednesday in your small groups you guys discussed the importance of the word of God. You looked at some of the reasons that it is still applicable, and just as relevant as ever to your every day life. How even two thousand plus years later it can still have an incredible impact!
- What was your biggest takeaway from Wednesday night?
The word of God is so powerful, practical, and beautiful. It represents exactly what God wanted us to know about the past, the perfect essence of Jesus, and a model for the Christian life. It has absolute authority in our lives because it was written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
2 Peter 1:19-21 says this:
“We couldn’t be more sure of what we saw and heard— God’s glory, God’s voice. The prophetic Word was confirmed to us. You’ll do well to keep focusing on it. It’s the one light you have in a dark time as you wait for daybreak and the rising of the Morning Star in your hearts. The main thing to keep in mind here is that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of private opinion. And why? Because it’s not something concocted in the human heart. Prophecy resulted when the Holy Spirit prompted men and women to speak God’s Word.” (msg)
- How does this passage change the way you view scripture?
For a long time in my personal life I couldn’t figure out how the Bible could actually improve my life. It seemed like such a boring history textbook without anything that I could use. When I began intentional about asking others for tips on reading the Bible everything changed!
2 Timothy 3:16-17 says:
“There’s nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.” (msg)
- What are the ways that the writer of 2 Timothy says the word of God can help us?
If you’re having trouble finding a place to get started I highly recommend you ask your small group leader to help you find a great starting point! You can also check out this video that Pastor Josh prepared for Fusion X, he shares on how to spend time with God!
Dr. John C Maxwell says this: “You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.” True life change can happen when you allow God to be more than just a side note in your life!
When I was in middle school one of my greatest mentors gave me the challenge to commit to time with God every single day for thirty days. In those thirty days I had some of the biggest life change in my entire life. So that’s what I challenge you to do starting today!
- How much time will you commit to reading Gods word each day?
